The new Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Creator Economy 2.0 are exciting developments that will pave the way for new worlds and experiences in the Fortnite universe. With the new editor, creators will have even more tools at their disposal to bring their visions to life. The Creator Economy 2.0 is also a significant step forward, providing more opportunities for creators to monetize their content and connect with their audiences.
UNREAL EDITOR… FOR FORTNITE!
The
Unreal Editor is a key feature of Unreal Engine, Epic’s toolset used by professional game developers to make all kinds of amazing games that are playable on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, PC, and Mac.
Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) is a new PC application for designing, developing, and publishing games and experiences directly into Fortnite. Over time, UEFN will evolve to feature most of the same tools available in Unreal Engine. Today in the public beta, UEFN enables a wide variety of games and experiences ranging from highly stylized cel-shaded team combat to ultra-realistic sims, playable right inside the Fortnite you already have installed.
The new UEFN feature works together with Fortnite's current Creative tools, allowing teams of creators to collaborate and work on developing and testing islands in real-time. This means that creators can work seamlessly across different platforms like PC and console, making it easier to create and test new content.
For an early glimpse at what’s possible using UEFN, check out

Epic’s Picks Discover row in Fortnite. These are tech demos which show the new capabilities; stay tuned for full islands and game modes as creators learn to take advantage of the new tools.

UPGRADE! CREATOR ECONOMY 2.0
To help support the creators who contribute to the success of Fortnite, Creator Economy 2.0 has been launched. This new system allows eligible island publishers, including both creators and Epic, to receive engagement payouts based on their content's popularity, player engagement, and ability to attract new players. The payouts come from 40% of the net revenue from the Item Shop and most real-money purchases made in Fortnite, and are distributed on a monthly basis.
These engagement payouts are separate from the existing
Support-A-Creator program and are designed to reward island creators specifically. The Support-A-Creator device has been removed from the game, so creators no longer need to ask players to use their Creator Code. By simply playing their favorite islands or games, players are supporting their creators financially without any additional codes required.
Overall, the new Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Creator Economy 2.0 are exciting developments that bring new possibilities for both creators and players in the Fortnite universe. With UEFN, creators can have access to more powerful tools to create immersive experiences and games within Fortnite, while the Creator Economy 2.0 provides more opportunities for monetization and engagement for creators. We can expect to see more amazing content from the community as they explore the new features and tools, making Fortnite an even more exciting and engaging game for everyone.
