DEVUPDATE #65: STEAK PUNS ARE RARELY FUNNY
FEBRUARY 11, 2022
Hey everyone, lemmingllama here. Last week we took our first look at the upcoming 5.14 patch and the fairy changes that are coming. This week we’ll be continuing on that fairy theme with some other new additions, as well as a fundamental change to current and future raid design. Let’s get into it!
First off, we’ll have some new equipment sets introduced in the 5.14 update. One of these is the new Forest Sylph legendary set, a new equipment set themed around fairies! Forest Sylph will decrease your Fairy Spawn Cooldown, allowing you to see more waves of fairies. Additionally, it will have a All Damage bonus per enchanted artifact you own, boosting players who have progressed further into the game and have started unlocking the enchantment boosts. A notable difference in the Forest Sylph set compared to our past equipment sets is that we’ve developed a new system to allow for longer hair for the Helmet equipment. Forest Sylph will be the first set to use this system, but we may have other sets in the future to also expand the possible hair styles that the Sword Master can wear. In addition to the new legendary set, we are also introducing new rare equipment sets to the game. Three of these will be equipment sets created out of existing rare equipment, and with one brand new equipment set. The Space Knight set will give a bonus to your Splash Damage. The Hell Cook set will give a bonus to your Fire Sword Damage. The Cat Ninja set will give a bonus to your Deadly Strike Damage. The new Woodland Warrior set will give a bonus to your Companion Damage.
As well as these new equipment sets, we are also making changes to the Raiding system of the game. In particular, we are looking to help each Titan Lord stand out and feel unique from each other. To do this, we are adding a new feature that allows Titan Lords to have varied Base Health values. This will mean that some titans will have more health required to defeat them, but also will have weaker armor to compensate. Similarly, some titans will have weaker body health, and will be well protected by their armor. The goal of this update is to take titans that had similar strategies and give them new balances of body and armor health to help differentiate between them. We are currently looking at adjusting Lojak, Sterl, and Klonk’s base health values, but as the exact values are still being balanced, I’ll be able to discuss the specifics of their health changes in the future with the patch notes. To go along with this, we will also be reworking some of the Enemy Bonuses. Jukk, Sterl, and Priker will have some new Health bonuses that decrease the amount of HP that the armor and body parts have, incentivizing strategies that attack more parts of the Titan Lord. Similarly, we are also going to be doing some balance passes over the Area Bonuses to help balance out the various bonuses. We’ve received a lot of feedback about how certain bonuses are less impactful, and we’ll be looking to ensure that all bonuses feel impactful and powerful for the duration of the raid. Lastly, we’ll be changing the titan lord’s Base Health scaling for tier 2 and tier 3 Clan Raids. This will help smooth out progression for clans and generally allow for easier progression through the tiers.
