RuneScape – May 2021 Patch Notes | Improved Divination Update!

Introduction

Get ready to dive into the exciting world of divination with the highly anticipated Improved Divination update! In this update, the game developers have made some significant changes to enhance your gameplay experience. First up, wisps will now have a limited wander range of only five tiles away from the energy rift. This means you can now relax a bit more while training your skills, as catching those elusive wisps will be a breeze. But that's not all! The duration of springs has been increased to a cozy 60 seconds, making it even more rewarding to interact with them. Plus, the more players that join in, the longer the duration will be, creating a fun and social atmosphere. Gathering Memories just got even more exciting with the introduction of Enriched Memories. You now have a chance to score an Enriched Memory while gathering, and the chance can even go over 100%! Imagine the thrill of getting one Enriched Memory and having a 50% chance to nab another at 150%. And if you're looking for some social time while skilling, the new Memory Overflow mechanic has got you covered. By contributing Chronicle Fragments to a regular energy rift until it overloads, you'll gain various beneficial effects, including increased XP, higher critical chance, and the appearance of an Enriched Wisp to boost your crit rating. But that's not all, folks! The update also brings changes to Chronicle Fragments, Sign of the Porter, and Transmutation. Chronicle Fragments will now spawn next to you, Sign of the Porter has a new level 99 version, and there are new transmutation tiers for fish and ores. So get ready to explore these exciting additions and take your divination skills to the next level!

IMPROVED DIVINATION

The Improved Divination update we spoke about last week goes live with today's update! For those of you who missed the post, here's a quick rundown:

WISP WANDER RANGE

Currently, wisps zip about all over the place, meaning you have to be on the ball to catch them and bring your hard-won resources back to the energy rift. Following this update, they'll only wander up to five tiles away from the rift, which should make this particular aspect of training the skill a bit more AFK-able.

SPRING DURATION

Now that you've got hold of those cheeky wisps, you'll be pleased to know that we've also increased the duration of springs to a cosy 60 seconds. Also, each additional player who interacts with the spring will increase the duration by a flat 15 seconds, up to a maximum of 75 extra seconds. It's like a water cooler chat, but all fancy and mystical.

CRITICAL CHANCE WHILE GATHERING

While gathering Memories you'll now have the chance to score an Enriched Memory - and what's more, this chance can go over 100%! At 150%, for example, you'll get one Enriched Memory and a 50% chance to nab another. Not bad!

MEMORY OVERFLOW

Memory Overflow is another opportunity to get some social time in while you skill. It's a brand-new buff that triggers when you and a few other players contribute Chronicle Fragments to a regular energy rift until it overloads, at which point you'll gain the following effects:
      • +1 base energy from deposited Memories
      • 5% more XP from deposited Memories
      • 10% higher critical chance when siphoning from nearby springs
      • Spawns an Enriched Wisp which boosts your crit rating by 100%
          • This mechanic replaces Enriched Wisps spawning every 20 minutes

CHRONICLE FRAGMENTS

Chronicle Fragments have taken a page from the Fire Spirits' book and will now spawn next to you and remain immobile. If you're paying attention and grab the Chronicle Fragment within six seconds, you'll get an Enriched Chronicle worth a little bit more XP - and a lot more progress towards Overloaded Energy Rifts.

SIGN OF THE PORTER VII

Sign of the Porter VI, previously the highest level there was, has been shuffled down to a 94 Divination requirement, and now requires 80 Luminous Energy to craft. Why, you ask? To make room for Sign of the Porter VII, a new level 99 sign that holds 50 charges and requires 120 Incandescent Energy to craft.

TRANSMUTATION

We've added a bunch of new transmutation tiers for both fish and ores, but don't take our word for it, have a look for yourself: Fish
      • Raw Sharks = Lustrous Energy + Raw Monkfish
      • Raw Sea Turtle = Brilliant Energy + Raw Shark
      • Raw Cavefish = Radiant Energy + Raw Seaturtle
      • Raw Mantaray = Luminous Energy + Raw Cavefish
      • Raw Rocktails = Incandescent Energy + Raw Mantaray
Ores
      • Luminite Ore = Sparkling Energy + Mithril Ore
      • Orichalcite Ore = Vibrant Energy + Runite Ore
      • Drakolith Ore = Vibrant Energy + Runite Ore
      • Necrite Ore = Lustrous Energy + Orichalcite Ore
      • Phasmatite Ore = Lustrous Energy + Drakolith Ore
      • Bane Ore = Radiant Energy + Necrite/Phasmatite Ore
      • Light Animica = Incandescent Energy + Bane Ore
      • Dark Animica = Incandescent Energy + Bane Ore

OTHER ITEM CHANGES

Having changed the skill to this extent, there are a number of other items and rewards that have been rebalanced to fit snugly into the new meta. Lucky for you, we've got a big list of those changes right here:
      • Divination Skill Cape: Boosts a spring's minimum duration by 30 seconds, one time per spring. This effect does not stack with that of Ethereal Connection.
      • Ethereal Connection: Boosts a spring's minimum duration by 30 seconds, one time per spring. This effect does not stack with that of the Divination Skill Cape.
      • Fading Memory: Retains all current effects bar the duration increase. Instead, Fading Memory now provides 20% Crit Chance.
      • Elite Divination Outfit: 5% chance of granting a 100% crit chance.
      • Elder Divination Outfit: 7% chance of granting a 100% crit chance.
      • Prism of Dowsing: Grants 5% crit chance when nearby.
      • Chronicle Absorption: Instead of absorbing the Chronicle Fragment, the prayer now automatically picks up the Chronicle and provides an Enriched Chronicle.
      • Spirit Attraction Potion: As above!
      • Abyssal Transit: Chronicles can now always be offered from Inventory, but the Abyssal Transit doubles the progress towards Overloaded Energy Rifts when dropping off Chronicle Fragments.
Raring to get going with Divination? Then you're in luck, because this week's update also kicks of an extra-special Double XP LIVE!

DOUBLE XP LIVE

Double XP LIVE is back, and this time it's... doubled! To help make things right after the Login Lockout situation we're extending this month's Double XP LIVE event by 10 whole days. So, from now until May 24th, you've got 48 hours of Double XP time to spend however you wish! Whether you want to dip your toes into Divination right away, or take a little time to plan out your skilling adventures - it's all up to you.

MERCH STORE

New in stock this month, we've got even more 20th Anniversary merch! You might have spotted these in the care packages we sent out to our content creators earlier this year, but now everyone has the chance to get their hands on these celebratory goodies. First up is this extremely stylish black and gold Map of Gielinor print. It's just the thing to brighten up your home office - and even if you don't have one of those, it's also big enough to cover up that weird stain on the wall. You know the one. If you prefer to wear your heart and/or your favourite game on your sleeve, you'll want to pick up the Commemorative Black and Gold Map of Gielinor Tee, which comes with a 20th Anniversary Logo in the neck. But enough about us - RuneScape's anniversary isn't the only milestone we're celebrating this time around! Angels Scapes has now designed an incredible 200 pins and keyrings for the official merch store, and to celebrate, she's gone and designed a few more! Check the store now to grab the following:
  • Angels Fire Cape (200th Design Limited Edition)
  • Void Seal Pin
  • Dungeoneering Master Cape Keyring
  • Thieving Skill Cape Keyring
Speaking of Skill Capes, we've restocked three of our most popular Skill Cape Keyrings: Agility, Ranged and Firemaking, as well as the Blood and Ice Barrage Pins.

WAVE UPDATES

As we mentioned last week, returning accounts is the start of a journey rather than the finish line. With our learnings from the Beta, this will be a rolling process of returning accounts. Keep this page bookmarked as we bring you all the latest updates on account return waves as we have them.
Post-Lockout Update - 15:00 Game Time, May 6th Hello everyone. Over the past month, we've been working hard and slowly returning more of the accounts that required additional attention back into the game. As of today, we're happy to say that we've released almost every single locked out account back into the world of RuneScape! As these accounts were some of the more challenging to restore, there is a higher potential for issues that need resolving. If anything is wrong, please contact Aftercare to resolve the problems. We will do everything we can to restore or make good on anything that doesn't look quite right to the best of our ability, and as quickly as we can. Once again, we can't thank everyone involved in this phase of the Lockout enough for the support and understanding we've received. We truly appreciate you.

AN EXTRA THANK YOU

Restoring these more complex cases has been a long, intense process - and the end result has meant an additional month's wait for some. For anyone restored on April 28th or May 6th, we'll be providing extra Returned gifts to recognise this extended time away from Gielinor. In addition to the two months of Membership time we've already covered if you were an active Member, we've also added an additional two months of Membership to your account (that's four months in total) on top as a thanks for your patience. We've also sent you two additional in-game Returned Packages (meaning you'll get three) and, when released, you'll also be receiving one more Wish than most other players.

CONTACTING AFTERCARE

Our Player Support teams are on hand to help address any concerns that may emerge from the account recovery process. They'll be doing their best to make everything right, even when we can't restore something exactly the way it was before the Login Lockout. Getting in touch couldn't be easier. Simply click the button below and fill out a quick form. Our teams will be in touch to help resolve your concerns as soon as they can, and you can use the form more than once if needed (within reason, of course!).

IF YOU ARE STILL LOCKED OUT

There are a handful of accounts that are still being finalised. If you are still locked out, you can get more support and information through our official Discord in the #login-lockout section.

Wave 7 - Final Wave & Next Steps | 12:45 Game Time, April 9th Hello everyone, We are very excited to let you know that our final wave of has now released, which means that almost all affected accounts have been returned to the game. Thank you so very much for your incredible patience over the past month as we gave it all we could to restore your accounts to the highest possible quality. It's fantastic to see so many of you back in game. However, this isn't the end of our journey. A small proportion of accounts require additional attention before we can restore them, and Aftercare will still be necessary to resolve outstanding issues for some of you. If you're in either situation, here's what to do:

MY ACCOUNT STILL HASN'T BEEN RETURNED

If your account remains locked, the batch telemetry translation process used for other accounts hasn't been sufficient to restore your account to the highest possible quality. This means your account is going to require individual attention before it can be returned, which may take some time. If you are in this situation, firstly, we want to apologise for the extended wait. Getting you playing again is our top priority. We will work with you on an individual basis to ensure that we more than make up for the wait, as well as covering any membership time spent. You'll also still be eligible for the care package, which includes 'The Returned' title and several other goodies. Everyone in this situation will be notified by email, so keep an eye on your inbox. We'll also be keeping you updated throughout next week whenever we have new information to share.

SOMETHING ON MY ACCOUNT ISN'T RIGHT

Aftercare is the term we're using for the individualized support we'll be providing to players whose account still doesn't look quite right. First, we recommend you check our Restoration FAQ for details on some of our most expected issues and the actions you can take to help resolve them. Then, head on over to our Aftercare Form to submit a ticket for anything you need us to work on. Aftercare is an ongoing process, so if you find something a month from now that you've suddenly realised isn't right, you'll still be able to submit a ticket. Please be patient in these early stages, though - response times will vary based on volume but we're working on getting to everyone as fast as we can. Thanks in advance for your patience.

KNOWN ISSUES

While it'll be business as usual for many of us (Game Updates will continue, content will release, etc.), there might be some unexpected side effects for accounts impacted by the Login Lockout. While we've done our best to minimise inconsistencies with account recovery, unfortunately a few issues remain unresolved. Rest assured however that we'll be working hard to make even the smallest detail right through that one-to-one aftercare we've mentioned before. More on that in a bit! So what are those remaining issues? Let's dive into them.
  • Bank and Inventory will likely be jumbled, with items shuffled and disorganised.
  • Invention Perks may have been reverted to an earlier state.
    • However, we have been able to refund most components for any perk rolls since the last saved state of your Perks. We have also added 50% extra of any returned components.
  • Some player-owned farm animals might be missing.
  • Some players will have been teleported to Burthorpe or Lumbridge.
  • Some UI settings might have changed.
  • Potential for duplicated or missing items under certain conditions
  • Bonds and Keys may not be restored immediately upon your account being unlocked.
    • This is restored under a separate process and should be resolved shortly after deployment.
There may be more issues than listed here. We will update this list as needed. We've tried our best to resolve as many issues as possible whilst also balancing the desire to get everyone back in-game as soon as possible. We know some of you might be more impacted by these issues than others, which is why we've set up a dedicated aftercare service for all affected players to use. We've also put together a bit of a care package to help kickstart your RuneScape experience!

WELCOME BACK PLANS

You might have heard once or twice over the last few weeks that we're committed to making this right. That's why when you log back in on (or after) April 6th impacted players will be greeted by a box filled with goodies in their Inventories. What's inside?

To help you maximise any gains when you return, we're running three bonus-packed weekly events throughout April that include things like double Reaper Points, double Vis-Wax opportunities and a whole lot more. We've also extended Yak Track: Yak to Basics by three weeks, re-running Vic the Trader later in April and even granting everyone a wish.

AFTERCARE

In order to ensure that everyone's accounts are shipshape, our Player Support teams are on hand to help address any concerns that may have resulted from the account recovery process. They'll be doing their best to make anything right, even when we can't resolve something exactly how it was before the Login Lockout. Getting in touch couldn't be easier. Simply head to the link below and fill out a quick form. Our teams will be in touch to help resolve your concerns as soon as they can, and you can use the form more than once (but within reason) if needed. We mentioned it before, but we can't guarantee that everything can be returned to how it was, even with the help of this aftercare program. If this is the case, rest assured that we'll do what we can to make up for anything that's lost. We will do right by you. Additionally, as much as we'd love to confirm a timescale by which we'll reply to individual tickets, please understand that the speed at which we can resolve them will vary based on volume. Please have patience while we work our way to your request.

WHAT'S NEXT?

We will be returning players wave-by-wave, which means we know some players won't be joining us in-game today. Work continues to restore these accounts, and when they are reactivated they'll also benefit from the above goodies and support with more if needed. If you're in this bracket of players who can't play today, please sit tight - we'll have you in game as soon as we can! Thank you for your patience and support during what was a long March of investigations. developments and Betas. We're glad to finally begin welcoming you home and we look forward to showing you more of what the year ahead has in store!

MOBILE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS UPDATE

As part of our work to offer a top-drawer experience when we launch on Mobile this Summer, we've been undergoing a huge review of devices that are part of the Beta and the performance experience they offer. While we have plenty of continued improvements and refinements coming for Mobile, we have identified a number of devices that simply won't hit the quality bar we need due to hardware limitations. Based on these reviews, beginning later today we'll be updating our minimum requirements on Android to require Android 8.0 or higher, as well as 2GB of RAM. While this won't impact the vast majority of players in the Android Open Beta, those with devices that don't meet these requirements will unfortunately no longer be able to play once this change comes into effect later today. If you are one of these players, we are really grateful for the time you spent playing in our Android Open Beta. While we can imagine this news comes as a big disappointment, your participation was a critical part in helping us deliver a great experience on Mobile this summer. Thank you so much for your participation, and we hope you'll be able to join us again on Mobile in the future.

ELDER GOD WARS: THE NEXT CHAPTER

Following the events of Azzanadra's Quest, Gielinor is in turmoil. Friend is now foe, and the real enemy is still looming on the horizon. So what's next? Well, we can't give the game away just yet - but we can tell you that the next chapter of the Elder God Wars storyline will be revealed this Friday. Listen out for rumblings throughout the week, and tune in to Twitch.TV/RuneScape at 17:00 Game Time this Friday, May 21st for the full reveal. We'll see you there!

WISHES: COMING SOON!

We know that many of you are anxious to hear more about the Wishes we promised you after the Login Lockout, and we can assure you that the Ninja Team have been hard at work on them. You can expect more news in tomorrow's livestream and we'll be sharing even more information in a dedicated newspost a little later in the week - but we can share a little bit right now. The Wishes will arrive in the form of a Guardian's Gift, which you can open to choose the Wishes you'd like to receive. The release is currently planned for Monday May 24th - so get that date in your diary!

PRIME GAMING

Our friends at Prime Gaming have a special treat for you. For the next 10 months or so, RuneScape players who link their Prime Gaming accounts will be able to get their hands on a variety of exciting goodies. FIRST ENTRY

Damn you, Tony. Damn you to the Abyss and back. I sit here writing this - by myself, mind you - on an unconscionably biting spring night by failing lantern light. And I'm angry. I'm angry that you made me care. That as much as you infuriated me, I couldn't help but be caught up in your blithe outlook and joy in discovery. That despite myself, I loved archaeology again. Because of you. I'm angry that you aren't here to bicker with me. To bandy ideas around over an ale. I'm furious that I stood by and bit my cowardly tongue while Xephos handed you that cursed shard. I'm angry that you left. I can't leave, Tony. No-one leaves Silhouette.* Like any good clandestine order, Silhouette keeps track of its members - makes sure you're toeing the line, enacting Lord Zaros's will from the shadows. They'll hear the first word of dissent that passes your lips - hence my sparkling demeanour and perky grin. So I'm writing these 'Research Notes' - bundling them up and putting them somewhere safe. Should I slip up, and the Inquisitors catch up with me, I want there to be some chance that something of my work survives. That if somehow you find your way home on your own, you might know that I tried to do the right thing. I'm going to find you, Tony. And I'm going to bring you back. *And don't give me that. You must have known something was afoot in the Guild.

SECOND ENTRY

I've been studying the Monolith since the day you left. You could spend a lifetime looking at this thing and barely scratch the surface, but one thing in particular sticks out to me. A series of strange glyphs - older than anything I've tried to decipher before, and like nothing I've ever seen. For this task, even our most venerable primers are little more than dog-eared lantern stands. I need source material. I've known Xephos since the early days, before we infiltrated the Guild. He recruited me to help Nabanik rebuild the temple - found a failing student and gave her purpose. He values my resourcefulness, but has never truly trusted me. So he keeps me where he can see me. He's given me the task of organising an expedition to the site at Orthen. There's an artefact there that Lord Zaros covets. A lost cause, of course - no one we've sent has ever returned. But I've heard that articles of linguistic significance are being unearthed in the surrounding area. Worth a shot, I'd say. I'll send a couple of our more ruthless recruits along - who'll make it look like I tried, and whose deaths won't cost me too much sleep. And one other. Someone I can trust to slip away quietly and return with what I'm looking for. If it's there at all. I'll see you soon, old friend. P.S. Don't tell anyone I called you that. P.P.S. I mean it. Even if I'm dead.

THIRD ENTRY

After a month of useless poring over the Monolith, I was beginning to lose hope. But today, my agent returned. Sure enough, she procured some stone tablets with close analogues to the troublesome glyphs, next to more discernible Dragonkin script. Far from perfect, but enough to work with - given time. One thing: rumour has it that Lord Zaros stepped in when the expedition failed and retrieved the artefact himself. For him to intervene personally... Honestly, I'm not sure what it means. What I do know is that I'll need to lay low for a while. Fortunately, a rising star in the archaeological world is stepping up to help out with Guildmaster duties. This is my chance to step aside and make myself scarce. I'll use my new, free time to study these texts. Joy in discovery, and all that. Sit tight.

FINAL ENTRY

This will be my final message. I'm struggling to comprehend what I've discovered, and as for what happens next... I can't say. With the source tablets from Orthen, it was relatively straightforward to translate. Shadow... then another glyph. Existence (superlative). So... Shadow matter? Shadow of all? Shadow everywhere? And then it struck me. A figurative phrase, contextualised by 'conflict': Antithesis. Negativity made manifest. Anathema. I couldn't help it. I spoke the word aloud, as it came to me, and the glyphs glowed brightly. The light grew until it filled my vision and then... Darkness. A lurch in my stomach as I fell forward. A sense of space and yet nothing. An infinite expanse that yawned wide and rendered me... null. I can't fully explain it, Tony, but there's no need. I know it's what you felt that day - the day you disappeared.
***
I came to in a cold sweat, and now - as my mind attempts to process what I saw (or didn't) - the memories are disappearing as quickly as I can put ink to paper. Lord Zaros is on his way, I know that now. With an appropriate reagent, no doubt he could finish whatever it is I started when I spoke that word. Whatever he plans to do, it can't be allowed to happen. I'll use my contacts - get the word out to whoever will listen. The world must know what is coming. Or it will be the end of everything. I could run, but I wouldn't get far. Better that I stay here and face my fate head on. See you again soon, Tony. One way or another.

For 10% of your total Guardian's Gift charge, the Entrepreneur's Wish will grant you a huge selection of non-combat items. Whether you're sailing the high seas or mucking about on your Player-Owned Farm, this bundle is sure to be helpful. Here's what you'll get:
  • 2 Animal Name Re-Rollers
  • 2 Animal Trait Re-Rollers
  • 2 Farm Gender Re-Rollers
  • 2 Captain Re-Roll Tokens
  • 2 Crew Re-Roll Tokens
  • 2 Voyage Re-Roll Tokens
  • 10 Ports Resource Crates
  • Travelling Merchant Coupon
  • Writ of Freelancing
  • Writ of Barter
The keen-eyed amongst you will notice some new items in that list. The Travelling Merchant Coupon can be used to change the Deep Sea Fishing Hub's Travelling Merchant's stock to what it was on any Runeday within the last 30 days. You'll be shown information about the stock available before you make your choice, and if you already bought an item on the day in question it'll be marked as 'Out of Stock'. The Farm Gender Re-Roller does exactly what it says on the tin and lets you swap the gender of any animal on your Player-Owned Farm or The Ranch Out of Time, except for the tutorial Rabbits. It's stackable, untradeable and a members-only item. It will be destroyed on drop but will always remain in your Backpack on death. Please note that it can only be used on checked animals in your Backpack, and not on the animal NPCs in a pen. To prevent issues with names more commonly associated with a specific gender, animals will also have their names re-rolled. The Writ of Freelancing will reset your Arc Contract limit for the day while the Writ of Barter will allow you to reset your Chime limit.

WARRIOR'S WISH

The Warrior's Wish, available for 10% of your Guardian's Gift charge, will also get you a bundle of handy items - but this pack focuses on Combat. Here's what you'll get:
  • Aura Refresh
  • Life Refresh
  • Soul Reaper Refresh
  • Item Protection Contract
You'll notice we've added more new items with this Wish. The Reaper Refresh will let you complete an extra Reaper Assignment for free! This item is stackable and can be used an infinite number of times each day, but obviously cannot be used until you've completed your free daily Reaper Assignment or when you have an ongoing Reaper Assignment. It's not tradeable and will be destroyed if dropped. Lastly, you can't use it to abandon or reroll an active Reaper Assignment. The Item Protection Contract can be exchanged with Death (or sometimes Frank) to get your items back free of charge. Happy Slaying!

WRANGLER'S WISH

Here's another one for you Farming fans - the Wrangler's Wish will cause animals in the pen of your choice to breed. You'll get one new baby guaranteed, with an extra chance to get another. The exact probability changes based on animal type, but the chance will be within a 40-80% range. Please note that animals of the same gender will experience the same reduced breeding chances as they usually would. One for the sailors! For 10% the Navigator's Wish will complete all your active Player-Owned Port voyages. To clarify, they won't automatically be successful - this is simply a time saving measure.

ARCHAEOLOGIST'S WISH

Don't think we've forgotten about you shovelbums! 10% of your Guardian's Gift charge will get you the Archaeologist's Wish, which will complete your active Archaeology research. Perfect for those longer, 24-hour tasks!

WANDERER'S WISH

Next up we have the Wanderer's Wish, which will reset a daily, weekly or monthly D&D of your choice for 1%, 5% or 20%, respectively. It's also unaffected by the usual once-per day/week/month limit that D&D Tokens have.

POLYMATH'S WISH

Polymath's Wish is the first choice for skillers eager to max their gains. For 10% you'll get Double XP for an hour. It works just like one of the Knowledge Bombs from our Prime Gaming partnership - just make the wish, and enjoy your XP! The Double XP in question will follow the same rules as our Double XP LIVE events. For the rundown, check out the FAQ. Note: This Wish cannot be used by Ironman accounts.

BATTLE OF THE MONOLITH

The next chapter of the Elder God Wars saga is here! Following the events of Azzanadra's Quest old friends have become terrible foes, and certain factions have decided it's time to knock some sense into each other. Their stage is the Archaeology Guild, their audience, the looming shadow of the Monolith. From now until June 21st you'll get to take part in one of the biggest battles Gielinor has ever seen. Over the next four weeks you'll get a front row seat, so sharpen those swords, craft those runes, and nock those arrows - the Battle for the Monolith is one event you won't want to miss. The first week's battle is playable right now at the Archaeology Guild. You'll want to check back each week to catch all the action, since you'll get a nifty XP buff for participating in the battle while it's live. Courageous warriors will be rewarded with a mysterious shard at the end of the event. Who knows, it might just come in handy when you're on the front lines of the Elder God Wars...

GUARDIAN'S GIFT

Wishes are here at last! The first time you log-in after today's update you'll receive a Guardian's Gift, which comes fully charged ready for you to make those Wishes. There's a wide selection available to suit all sorts of playstyles, but one thing they all have in common is that they're designed to help you catch up on your favourite activities following the Log-in Lockout. To say thank you for the community's patience, everyone will get their own Guardian's Gift, although the amount of charge will vary depending on how long you were locked out for:
  • Players who were locked out for an extended period of time will get 400% charge.
  • Players who were locked out for the typical amount of time will get 300% charge.
  • Lastly, players who were not locked out at all will get 100% charge.
On the green fields beneath the Monolith, chaos reigned. Elves stood side-by-side with the remaining White Knights, anxiously awaiting the moment when the frontline defences broke and they too would raise their weapons to fight. Magic arced from battlestaff to helpless shield, steel clashed against steel, and from the old mansion on the hill, elvish arrows rained down across the Zarosian army. “We’ve lost sight of Seren!” a scout yelled, breathlessly. Saradomin nodded and scanned his eyes across the battlefield. The elven goddess had been missing for hours – hunting her brother, perhaps. A shadow swept across a group of knights towards the left flank, catching his attention. He waved away the scout. “Keep searching,” he instructed. The shadow was darting though clouds of smoke. He followed, one eye on the sky. Then Nex chose to make her move. With a screaming battle cry, the Angel of Death descended, scattering the Saradominist forces. Saradomin raised his staff, aiming a blast of blue light at the winged monstrosity. She instinctively dropped a wing, the shot sailing over her shoulder, and dropped to the ground. “You still believe you can defeat us?” she scoffed. Saradomin said nothing. There was no reasoning with Zarosians. A second bolt of light scorched the ground at Nex’s feet and she hissed, snakelike, relishing the thrill of battle. She flexed her wings and in a moment the field was engulfed in smoke. The clash of weapons dulled, punctuated by coughing soldiers. The god raised his arms and cried out. A great wave of force exploded outwards, causing Nex to stagger and the Knights hovering at the edge of the field to fall back. A shimmering barrier separated them from the two combatants – and from the deadly smoke. Saradomin raised his hand as they attempted to come to his aid. “Your bravery is better suited to the battlefield!” he cried, “Rally! Defend the Monolith!” Nex dashed forward, claws and teeth and rage, only to be blocked by the cold metal of Saradomin’s staff. With all the strength he could muster, he threw her aside. He barely had the chance to reach for his mace before finding himself sidestepping a vicious line of icy spikes shooting from the ground. Another blast of light sent Nex reeling. Saradomin prepared to strike when a ball of pure shadow collided with his arm. He hissed in pain, even as the wound mended itself. The barrier held. “Perhaps you should focus on fighting, and not protecting your humans.” Nex’s voice dripped with disdain. Saradomin had no reply. He was focusing on maintaining the barrier, the only thing between his troops and Nex’s unstoppable power. Sometimes, wisdom meant knowing better than to rise to the bait. Clearly tiring of her magic, Nex launched into another melee attack and the pair clashed together, a whirl of light and shadow impossible for human eyes to follow. Whenever the blunt edge of Saradomin’s mace struck, Nex would slip aside – and whenever her claws found their target, they glanced off the tempered silvthril of Saradomin’s armour in a shower of sparks. With an animal growl Nex disengaged from the fight, falling back to the other side of the arena. Her breath was ragged, her posture an exhausted mirror of Saradomin’s own. They were at a stalemate. Outside the barrier, Saradomin’s knights were fighting for their lives. No – for Gielinor. One sliced into an abyssal prowler. Another fell at the blade of a former comrade, betrayal written in his eyes. With some effort Saradomin swallowed his fury and set Nex in his sights. If all he could do was keep this creature from tearing up the rest of his forces, then that would have to suffice. When he’d first encountered Nex, all those years ago, he’d admired her dedication. Now he saw the truth of her – another fool driven by misplaced loyalty to a god who would destroy the world to satisfy his ambition. Out there, beyond the shining barrier – that was what real loyalty looked like. Saradomin grit his teeth. Nex grinned. And the fight began anew.
